The Narrow World

The Narrow World is a film made by Melanie Wilson, Gemma Riggs and Will Duke, in collaboration with Tunisian artists in 2015.

Taking Shakespeare’s male speeches as its source material, the piece creates a female expression that both presents and questions ideas of self-determination and authority. Working with professional and amateur performers in Tunisia and the U.K, Wilson collaborated with the ensemble to engage with a selection of Shakespeare’s male speeches, which form the content of the short film.

The project will be developed in 2016/17 to encompass an online artwork featuring film, writing, photography and sound, which links the women of Tunisia and U.K in their shared thinking around the future.
